How common vs. is Jade vs. as a fn?

I see the name Jade on here alot as a mn but, I was wondering how common it was as a fn. I think it’s a very nice name but I don’t want to use anything that is really overused. Is Jade a very common first name?

It was the 129th most popular baby name in the US in 2008.
So, no it is not that common.

Jade is a popular name for exotic dancers.

Sorry, but that’s why most people don’t use it as a fn.

You can see the popularity yourself on the SSA website in the US -- Social Security online website. It even lists names by state as well as by the nation as a whole.

I see it alot as a mn also. I think alot of people use Jada, Jadyn as a formal name and Jade as a nn.

I go through birth announcements for my blog and I rarely see any Jade’s as first names so I say go for it. It’s a lovely name.

Millikate--I went to your blog and it is quite interesting. I like that you list out all the names from the Sunday paper. It’s neat to see the "real" names. One week Abrey Anne was listed. What do you think of Abrey? (long A as in day).

My husband likes Aubrey and I like Avery and we were actually thinking of doing Abrey Mae (mn to honor his grandmother). Does this sound good or made up?
