Eliza Bethany vs. Elsa Bethany vs. ____ Bethany

I really want to honor my best friend, Bethany. It’s a long story, but she passed away when we were teenagers, and she was such a huge part of my life, that I want to honor her. But I also want to honor my mom and sister. The name they both have in common is Elizabeth. But Elizabeth and Bethany are too close. So we have these names instead. Any suggestions? We already have sons Adam Nicholas and Nathaniel Paul (Nate). Thanks a lot! ~Tam

Eliza Bethany Jones is a very lovely choice! The only other one I can think of is Lisa Bethany, but I don’t think that’s as nice Eliza.

I’m sorry but Eliza and Elsa Bethany to me sound like a run-on name....Elizabethany is all I keep hearing/seeing. Elizabeth has so many variations that stem from it that both of these name choices with Bethany make me think you should just use Elizabeth...which is against what you’re trying to do, so I’d recommend either Bethany and then Eliza or Elsa or ______ Bethany.

Honestly, I’d consider Eliza a tribute to both a Bethany and an Elizabeth.

I find any combination of Eliza and Bethany a bit odd, because they’re essentially variants on the same name.

It’s sort of like Katherine Kate or Eleanor Nora, but obviously I’m in the minority here.

I do absolutely Love the name Eliza!

I once had a friend shorten both her first name and middle names to make one "nickname" (her name was Danielle Susan, but went by DaniSue). Perhaps something like this might work in this case, like LizBeth.

I think you could also name her Elizabeth and call her Eliza and and honor everybody you want too.

That said, I think Eliza Bethany works.
