Nina vs. Yes vs. No
My husband is really set on naming our daughter Nina (pronounced nee-nuh, if you didn’t know). I didn’t really like it at first, but now it’s starting to grow on me...WDYT? (I want to name her Sophie, if that helps.) Thanks!

I like Sophie and Sophia SO much more than Nina. Nina just seems really plain and dated to me. I would definitely go with Sophie/Sophia. What about Sophia Nina, nickname Sophie?

I like Nina. Sophie/Sophia is beautiful, but I know lots of little girls with those names, so its’ quite trendy. Nina seems less common, but I disagree with the pp about it being plain. I think it’s fun and a little unusual, without seeming made-up.

Sophie and Sophia are soooo popular right now! Nina is kinda cute, though. I wouldn’t use both for fn and mn combo, because they sound too sing-songy. gl!

Nina is lovely and different.
Sophia is pretty but very popular (e.g. in the top 10 in the US). Some of those would be nicknamed Sophie. Others are using Sophie as a name. Needless to say, there will be many with this name.
Would Nina Sophia work as a full name?

nina in spanish is what you call your godmother. so the name does feel a little dated since thats my 60 yr old godmothers name. i love the name sophie/sophia its adorable.
