question about vs. a comment on vs. earlier poll

On my "leigh" post, someone said it is only used by scumy people. What in the world? Why would you think that? Just curious. Seems a bit harsh. I know several girls with leigh in their name and they are far from scummy/ they are actully upper class.

That is absurd that someone would say that!! My daughters name is Kyleigh and we are far from "scummy". I have always gotten great compliments on her name!! I am so sick of ignorant people!!

Me too. I was just curios why someone would say that. I know lots of Kyleigh’s, Kaleigh’s, Baleigh’s etc. They are all form upper class families and are very educated people. I actually was thinking it was becoming quite common and popular and was thinking of using it. Thanks for your input.

I think it’s absurd to say it’s scummy, but I don’t personally care for it. Most of the names that people "leigh", I don’t care for anyway (like Kyleigh, Kaleigh, Baleigh, Haleigh, etc.), but spelled with the leigh, they look just look misspelled, not different. It’s not scummy, but I prefer the original spellings on names.

I don’t think it’s ’scummy’, persay, but I do think names that have Leigh instead of Lee/Ley/Ly are tacky. Why complicate a beautiful name like Emily by making it Emaleigh? I think it looks a little uneducated (and I don’t mean that the people who named their kids the name are uneducated, I mean that the name itself gives the impression of uneducation) and I prefer Ashley to Ashleigh, Kylie to Kyleigh, Bailey to Baleigh, etc.

My name is Caleigh and I can assure you I am not "scummy" at all. I do have to say though I don’t really like leigh at the end of a name. I would much preferred my name to be spelt Caley/Caylee etc, but that’s just my opinion on having to correct EVERYONE on how to spell it.

That poster didn’t say it was only used by scummy people, they just noted it was popular with scummy people. Others on that same poll called it ugly and tacky, and really, you were just asking for opinions on it. I don’t dislike it enough to call it ugly or tacky, but I think it is very trendy and likely to fade out soon. Already there is kind of a backlash towards it.

I am sorry if i offended anyone but i didnt mean the name is scummy and maybe the word scummy is the wrong word to use. I ment how it can be pronounced, like Leh at the end if it instead of lee if you know what i mean. Sorry

Lee is my cousin Emma’s middle name it’s after my Grandmother whose middle name is Lee. I don’t really care what gender it’s on. It’s nice for both but I would use it on boy if it wasn’t a girl name in the family.
