Carrington vs. Everson

Good evening- My husband and I are absolutely dead-locked between these two names for our son. They are both family names from generations back. The middle name will be a family name also, but we want to choose the first name before we decide on the middle name. Our other child (daughter) is Ashleigh Vivienne. Thanks for your vote! ~ Alix

Don’t like either name, but Everson seems less "preppy"

I prefer Carrington, however when I saw your last name I thought that both choices look like subdivision/housing development names. Using a first name, rather than a surname as a first name may help solve that problem. I am not sure if you see it as a problem or not, but I thought I would point it out.

We like "preppy." My husband and I have professional careers and hope our children will excel in life, as well. I know with our last name it can sound like the name of a neighborhood subdivision. That’s okay, though. This is our last name, and we make the best of it. It’s not an issue for us. Thanks for your comments! ~ Alix

What I meant by preppy was that they sound like rich, snobby kids that go to an exclusive private school...

Yep-subdivision; not a preppy one, just a ’burb
Or an MTV reality show-a la "The Hills."

They also sound feminine to me, particularly Carrington. And, I must be old-because it also reminds me of Dynasty-lol.

Everson at least has the "son," going for it, and is similar to other boys’ names currently in fashion, so I’d go with that.

As for whether this is a name that screams "successful," I think that’s debatable.
Most successful/preppy types these days are naming their boys things like Henry or Oliver. Everson sounds like the momeigh names that are on this site daily.
In fact, if you wait half an hour, I expect to see a "We saw Everson and fell in love with it," poll-hopefully not for a girl.

But, the important thing is that you love it, so Everson it is!

Both are good names and there’s certainly nothing wrong with sounding succesful. It beats sounding trashy in my book. I think both are great, especially because they are family names and you should listen to your instincts and not listen to the opinions of strangers. Except me, of course. lol Good luck with your little boy!!

i actually decided to use eversen for a girls name which is how i stumbled upon your poll. i had originally done a poll of my own eversen vs emberlee and got the same negitive feedback so i feel your pain and im sorry people are morons but seriously how many jacobs or "henreyS" does one world need? be original people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so needless to say i LOVE Everson :) good luck to you and what did you end up choosing?
