Jessie vs. Jesse

Which spelling for a boy? Around here, all boys with this name spell it Jessie and all the girls are Jesse, but where I grew up, it was always Jesse for a boy and Jessie for a girl. How is it where you live? This is just so confusing to get the name perfect! Thanks for your comments

Here its Jessie for girls and Jesse for boys too, but I know a girl from northern Canada who spells it Jesse.

I’ve never seen a boy Jessie. I’d assume that a Jessie is a girl.

Go with Jesse -- all of the famous males with this name are Jesse: Jesse James, Jesse Jackson, etc.

I named my son Jessie . Even though everyone said why r u spelling it like that 😱😱😱 But I wanted it to be is . It just felt right regardless & I don’t regret it . He will be 20 Tuesday 😇. I love my Jessie Lee! He is smart, independent, holds a job, has been building his credit since the day he turned 18. He purchased a nice SUV over a year ago & hasnt missed a payment! 👍👏👏👏

My name is Jessica and I am a girl and the way it has always been said to me is Jessie for a girl and Jesse for a boy but other people keep telling me different and I have looked it up and everywhere I see it saying that a girl is Jessie and a boy is Jesse and I live in Ohio

My name is Jessica by birth certificate only (per my mother) and have always been called Jessie by my family. To me Jessie is for a girl and Jesse is for a boy. Whenever I see it written the opposite way, I notice it immediately and always feel like that it is wrong.

Interesting, I'd go with Jesse for a boy (because of Jesse James) and Jessie for a girl.

However, the only man I know with that name spells it Jessie.

To my ear, adding an ie or y sound to the end of a name tends to show a fondness for that person. So, Jessie or Jesse sound more like nicknames than given names to me. I'm in Oregon.

My son's name is Benjessie and he loves his name. I just liked the way it looked when it was out. I think either way works in the end.

I want to name my daughter Jesse, spelled like the "boy" way. Apparently it seems a bit more common for boys to have the spelling Jessie than girls to have the spelling of Jesse. Hmm.....

It's easy. Jessie is short for Jessica. That's where the "i" comes from. Jesse is for a boy like in the Bible. Very simple. Thanks.

My name is Jesse and I'm a guy, when you spell my name leave out the "I".

Since the beginning of time Jesse is always how you spell a boys name. Jessie or jessi is for girls. How ever every idiot that I meet seems to be badly misinformed

We ar over thinking this how ever your mom wrote it is who you are and what Evers between your legs is what you are 🤘

While I believe it is popular because of aesthetic (which is also esthetic) , most commonly "Jessie" is for females, because of the name Jessica while the form "Jesse" is for males. However, I have met 3 males with the spelling of Jessie. I have also seen Jessi for females.

I think this poster is just confused and mixed up the spellings in her question. No one, and I mean no one who is a male is rocking the name Jessie. I'm named Jesse, I'm a male. I consider myself a subject matter expert. lol
