Dexter ?? vs. Dexter ??
Hi all. The DH and I are having a baby boy in spring. We saw the name Dexter on a poll here and fell in love with it. WDYT? Any middle name suggestions? Older sister is Poet Jill. Thanks.

It’s cute...but to fit with Poet, your gonna need something a little different IMO. BTW I love love Poet!

Thanks, guest :) We get a lot of comments about Poet’s name - I’m happy to say that most of them are positive! We did think that Dexter was a little too ordinary to fit with Poet, though.

Agreed. To match Poet you’re definitely going to need something more "out-there" than Dexter, which I don’t care for much anyway.

Sorry, don’t like it. All I think of is the serial killer from the TV show. But before that came around I always thought of the kid from Dexter’s Lab (I think it was called) or the expression from our childhood "pointdexter".

Thanks, guest. Does anyone have any "out-there" suggestions? We can’t think of a thing right now :)

I don’t think it needs to be TOO out there to go with Poet. I mean, yes, Poet is a little hippy, but not crazy out there like some names you come across on this site. I personally think Taylor would go really well with Poet.

Dexter is Latin meaning "of the right hand, skillful, fortunate," but unhappily coincides with a Middle English word meaning "female dyer."
