Cute! vs. OK vs. Awful & Ugly!
Hi! My name is Megan and I am NOT pregnant. However, I am starting to look at names for when dh & I do get pregnant. I have noticed the name Silas/Sylas on a couple of polls in the past couple of days and was wondering what you thought of the name? My dh said that he really likes it. Please be honest in your opinion, as I still have a while to find a perfect name for my child. Thanks, Megan!

Im not a fan of the name but i dont think its awful or ugly. I think its a name that needs to suit the boy bearing the name though. Its a name id probably keep in a group of names to choose from when i had the baby and could see what name fits him best.

The Sylas/ Silas polls were all from the same lady, she can’t decide which spelling is best / not all different people making it look like it is somewhat popular . Silas is an okay name definately an unusal name rarely heard of . She wants Cylas so his nn will b cy

Silas is cute..no matter how you spell it the nn will still be Sy or Cy. I think

I love Silas. I really don’t think it’s getting popular. I’ve never met a Silas, And I teach 2nd grade and have never had a Silas in my class. I think it just feels popular because it’s been on this site more often. You should look it up on the SSA site, it still shows that it’s not very popular.

Silas spelled like this is great. I’ve met one who would be maybe 7 or 8 by now. I don’t think it is common at all!

I tend to be very picky about names, but I like the name Silas VERY much. I only know about the name from the Bible. I have never known anyone with the name. Apparently it was only #313 in popularity last year, which means it is not common. It is a very handsome name. I would definitely spell it Silas. Great name!
