WDYT of vs. Alistair?

Alistair (Al-is-tur) is a Scottish form of Alexander, which we also like but find too popular. Is Alistair too wierd? It would be helpful to know which country you are posting from. Thanks!

I love Alistair, it was my great-grandfather’s name, and my cousin named Alexander after him. It is definately not too weird, because if someone can name their child Raven or Tristin than you can name your’s Alistair.

i like it, i don’t think it’s weird at all and i agree that Alexander is too popular, i’m from England btw, a lot of American’s think the name is strange though, and don’t know how to say it, much like Hamish or Duncan, which are also names i like

How do you say it? Al-is-tare? or Al-is-ter? I like it a lot and I am also trying to think of an alternative to Alex. What would the nickname be? Ali or Al
