Kira vs. other

I need opinions. I really have always liked the name Kiera or Kira for a girl but my sister in law has a daughter named Kirsten. Is this too close to Kira? Should I choose another name? Should I ask her?

If you like it then you should use it! It’s close, but you can definitely tell the difference. Growing up my cousin’s name was Cassia and mine is Carissa. They are close but we never thought much of it.

I like the spelling Kiera better, it just looks prettier to me.

I don’t think it’s too close either. I would go with Kiera. Maybe Kiara? You can tell her you would like to name your baby that and ask her if she finds that it is too close to Kirsten.

I prefer the spelling of Kiera. Kiera & Kirsten are not close enough to cause confusion or conflict. I say use Kiera w/o a doubt!

Are you prn it Keer-uh or Ky-rah. I have a friend who prn it Ky-rah and it is spelled Kira. If you are using this prn then I don’t think it is too similar to Kirsten - though Keer-uh and Kirsten as a little more similar.
