Evan Elyse vs. Brady Annette

We like unusual names on girls, and Cody and I have finally narrowed it down to two names that are usually boys names, but that we think are great for girls too. Middle name suggestions are welcome. Please don’t be mean if you don’t like our taste in names! Thank you, Heather

hmmm... how about Cory or Corrie?

I’m sorry, I really don’t like either.

Cody’s brother’s name is Cory, otherwise, we love the name. Thanks for the suggestion!

I also don’t like either AT ALL

Corrie or:

Elliot
Georgie
Alexie
Rory
Sawyer
Skyler
Ryann
Brandy or Bradi w an I
or even Evanne, pronounced like Evan could at leat identify her as a woman.

there are lots of other unisex choices but those two aren’t very good at all. At the very least I’d do it the other way around, the femenine choice first and the masculine name second. That way she can choose and not feel like she has to FOREVER be mistaken as a boy, ya know?

We like these two, but I appreciate the other choices. We actually really like Elliot and Sawyer.
We are both still kind of leaning toward Brady, but Cody really likes Evan because of Evan Rachel Wood...anyway, thanks for the suggestions.

Sawyer Evan could be a nice name. Also, you make like the name Ever. It’s unusal, and has the same sound as Evan without being immediately thought of as a boy name. Good luck!

I would go with Evan Elyse of the two. They both are pretty strong boy names though esp Brady.

What about Evanlee? You could still call her Evan but give her a more girly name for the future.

I love the name Ever! Cody was looking up names and found Everleigh...what do you guys think of that?
posted by Heather-Poster :: 13 years ago | report
Everleigh is really pretty! I was also going to suggest Brett or Shane!! Good luck!

I love Everleigh!
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Oh, I love Shane! I’ll run it by Cody.
What about Bristole?
posted by Heather-Poster :: 13 years ago | report
Yeah, Bristole is cute too. Oh and I forgot to mention Chase.

Not real fond of either for a girl. Nice names, I just like them better for boys, just my opinion. I like Evan best if using it for a girl.

I like Evan for a girl. Love Bristle, not very common yet. Don’t like Shane and Chase for a girl as mentioned above. I think that’s pushing it for a girl.

Sorry I meant Bristole above. Typo.

PLEASE stop ruining good boy names!!!! Very frustrating to those of us who are expecting boys, but are worried that the names we choose will become girly.

Out of the two choices, I chose Evan. But Everleigh is really pretty...and it conjures (sp?) up a picture in my mind of a cute little girl:*)

You’re not ruining good boy names..that’s ridiculous. I love Brady for a girl. I know a woman named Brady and I think it’s a great name. I also saw someone suggested Bristole. I love that also. Good luck and name your girl whatever "boy" name you want to!!!

I’m glad boy and girl names are getting paired up. And I appreciate a good crossover name, having one myself. I really like Everleigh. And I like Bristole, think about Sarah Palin jokes though. Just a thought. And there are plenty of boy names that have taking from the girl pool so I think it’s going to be okay!

She isn’t ruining boy names...there are a
million boys names out there!! I cannot stand it when people say that, name your son what you want and she’ll name her daughter what she likes!

Evan is adorable on a girl! I really like Brady too....met a little girl named Brady and it fit her perfectly! Good luck!!

I’m considering both of these for my son and now I’m not so sure. I already had to take Elliott off my list because of things like this. Pick a girl name for your daughter. None of the sensible public likes girls with boyish names. The only girl name that’s been suggested so far is Everleigh.
Not only do the people like myself who are having boys have to search for a name, but we have to search farther these days because we worry that the handsome name we now choose will get turned into a girls names. Quite frankly it’s not fair that pretty little girls have to go through life with a masculine name and it’s not fair to the boys that all of their names are disappearing. If you do name your daughter Evan or Brady I hope that she doesn’t go to school with a boy named this. It won’t be her fault.

People who want their daughter to have a boy name obviously have issues. Try for a son if you want to use a boy name. You people are adults. Start acting like you have some sense.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
You also are adults why don’t you try not being so rude!! Ever think people actually like these names
and don’t like any girl names?? WOW! Why not name your son a strong boys name and not something even remotely feminine! I have 2 daughters with unisex names and a son named Jack! Jack is the oldest and no I didn’t wish I had 2 more boys, my husband and I, along with our familes love our girls names who also have super girly nicknames! Your not going to change what other people like so get over it....really!! It’s not like this is a new trend I know woman of all ages with unisex names!

This isn’t the place to rant about how you feel about the naming system. It was for helpful suggestions, not attacks. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. It’s like a Mommy Golden Rule.

I have seen children with uncommon names. Most, but not all, are embarrassed by them. I had a female student named Jesse. The first thing she told me was that people usually thought she was a boy when they saw her name. She so much wanted it spelled Jessie. I also had a male student named Isabel. It was a common boy’s name in his culture, but he was living in the states, so it became a problem. A group of elderly women had made x-mas gifts for needy students a few years prior to Isabel being in my room. He showed me what they gave him, a ballerina teddy bear. All they had was a list of names, and they assumed he was a girl. These stories are true...just something to think about.

Bailey. Boys name, lovely girls name. One of the many.

I agree on the whole boy name issue, sorry. If so I would pick more unisex, these aer just too masculine IMO.
