Evalie vs. Overall thoughts
Ok, so I think we are definitely decided on Evalie, and most likely this spelling, unless someone can tell me why Evalea is better. We like the idea of Evalea a lot, but Evalie seems the more obvious choice. So what do people think of the name Evalie? Do you like it? Is it pretty? Why or why not. Thanks BUNCHES!

i love it! i know i would pronounce it correctly if i saw Evalie, upon saying that, i know how to read avonlea correctly, but maybe because there is a consonant in front of the L i say lee, but without that, i tend to say lea. i agree from your earlier post that it doesn’t say evaleah, but if you prefer the evalea spelling, just correct mispronunciations.

I think that it is cute...nice nickname potential with Lea, Eva, Evie....I actually am kinda liking the Evalea spelling a bit better. It kinda reminds me of Avonlea and I LOVE that. GL.

wow, that’s so funny that’s exactly why I liked Evalea too- because of Avonlea! (which is such a pretty word, I wish THAT could be a name lol)

Avonlea is gorgeous too, although a lot of people on this site will not be fans, but then again, they prefer Mayttycyn, LOl!

lol! Well, my family and I are huge Anne of Green Gables fans, so while it would be really cool, I think my family would think is too weird. I could never get my husband on board with it either, he’s NOT an Anne fan lol!

Honestly, Evalea, but I think people would be tempted to say Eva-leah- so Evalie would solve that problem.... if you don’t mind correcting pronounciation, go with Evalea. You should tell hubby the name is either Avonlea or Greenleigh Gables- lol!

I figure that it’s a name I’m going to correct either way it’s spelled, so maybe I should just go with my favorite spelling. At this point we may just put it in a hat and pick one!

:) I agree, you will correct it despite the spelling, but we named our daughter Elin, and thought we would be faced with the same issues- but most people just look at the name- ask ee-lynn or eh-lynn- I say "Elin", they say " how pretty".... and things are good :)
