I don’t understand calling a boy named John, a perfectly good name, Jack.

Johnny. If you call him Jack you should just name him Jack/Jackson.

Jack is a traditional nn for John. Eventually it became its own name but it is still used as a nn for John by some.

My father’s name is John and goes by Jack. I like the nn Jack the best.

Everyone has the idea that if you call a boy Jack that his real name should be John. I completely disagree. I love the name Jack!
