I think those kinds of ethnic names are a very personal decisions and shouldn’t be based on any popular aesthetic sense. If you like it, go for it. It does sound like "fellon", though... at least they way I understand its pronunciation.

If you live in America, I think you should "Americanize" the name so people can pronounce & spell it. It’s nice to honor his Irish roots, but I think "Faolan" or whatever spelling you prefer would make much more sense to people.
