Help Choose vs. Her Name
We’re having a little girl, and her due date is Christmas Day! Now, my family isn’t all that religious, we’re too busy usually to go to church but do occasionally. My sister says that since she’ll likely be born on or close to Christmas that I should give her a bible related name, or Christmas name but I’m not sure. She suggested names like Holly or Eve, but I’m not too fond of those names. My husband agrees with my sister though and thinks that it would be cute. Please help us decide! She will be joining her siblings Marley Jaye (8), Eli Mathew (6), Betsy Faye (3) and Aria Katherine (3). and Thanks, Lucy, Hal, Aria, Betsy, Marley, and Eli.

You could name her Beth or Bethany (in reference to Bethlehem) and it would sound nice with sis Betsy

We really like Bethany, I think its pretty but I don’t really like Holly. Noelle is okay, but I think it’s a little cliche and like, No, El.

I do like the suggestion of Bethany a lot. It’s subtle. In general, though, I do not like the idea of naming a child something solely because of when she happens to be born (around the 4th of July there were a lot of Liberty’s, etc.; not that I’m not patriotic, but that just makes me shudder).

I agree with you. Give her a name that defines her not the time in which she was born.

We have decided to name her Bethany Louise (or possibly Bethany Nicole/Paige, we’re not quite sure but we decided on the name Bethany, nn Beth.) Thanks!

I like Bethany nn Beth, but have you thought that both Beth and Betsy are common nns for the same fn, Elizabeth? I think it’s okay, just wanted to make sure you were aware.
