uncool vs. names?

Which names do you think of as very uncool? Perhaps too dated, or so old-fashioned you could never revive them? I’m just wondering because lots of old names that I would consider incredibly archaic and passe (like Hazel or Abraham) are becoming popular again... so, folks, what names would you NEVER use because they are hopelessly dorky, old, or just plain uncool?

The Top Baby Name is...

uncool

I would NEVER Torcher a child with theese names
posted by ??? :: 13 years ago | report
really? you think some of those names are torcher? I would MUCH rather have a child with one of those names then some of in ridiculous, misspelled junk you see some people chossing for names.

I would name my kids more than half the name you listed LONG before I named them something idiotic and made up.

I think some of the names in pp list are wonderful, classy names.

Torcher is naming a child something that looks like the parents were on acid when they spelled it. Or something you have a hard time being taken seriously with (I’ve seen Bunny, Pixie and Honey on this site).

And wow the previous poster has some hang-ups--that’s quite a list. Sometimes knowing people with a name influences your feeling about it.

spelt is acceptable is the UK, just as grey and theatre are accepted spellings for gray and theater.

Yeh sorry, i’m typing from the North West of Britain (near Manchester) spelt is certainly a word here. I didn’t know you could spell Theatre like that. Gray is how i spell it, but i understand grey too.

I also use Sulphur not Sulfur in my chemistry uni course.

Hank comes to mind as an old one that seems to be popping up again. Maybe it’s just a nickname, but it’s still terrible. Please steer clear of that one!
Check out the social security administration’s website. You can search the top names by year back to 1880: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ That may help you out.
