Opinion vs. Poll!

Hi, I am expecting a baby girl soon and I have a list of mine and my husbands favorite names. I take names seriously, because well, they do have an impact on the first impression. So if I could get you to comment on each of the names and tell me HONESTLY what you think, I would really appreciate it! Thanks! Madison, Stephen, and on-the-way-baby! Names in first comment

if your going to give your little girl a unisex name, dont spell it wrong. (sen, syn) its just stupid.
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Syn makes it look more feminine. Why wouldn’t you try to make it look like a girls spelling?

Ava-Pretty and bird-like, but is getting popular.
Olivia-Pretty, but is the third most popular name right now.
Madalyn-Don’t misspell a name, gives a bad first impression for teachers.
Chloe-Cute
Emily-Classic strong name that is rather popular.
Caroline-Southern Classic
Adalyn-See Madalyn
Addison-Also getting popular and it means Adam’s son, not very girly.
Elizabeth-Strong classic name
Grace-Unusual in the first name slot, it feel nice.
Audry-Nice, but is rising in the popularity ranks fast.
Hanna-It looks like a cross between the Hebrew Hannah and the Japanese Hana.
Caitlin-Nice
Claire-Clean and fresh
Avery-Is becoming uni-sex, let your girl be a girl.
Alexandra-Strong and classic name.
Sophia-Pretty but is very popular.
Natalie-Nice choice, but is #sixteen in popularity.
Savannah- Nice, but is #forty in popularity.
Anna-Sweet and simple
Paige-Old medieval boy attendant, never cared for it.
Evangeline-Lovely old classic, with sweet Eva as a nickname.
Emerson-If you want Emmie, go with Emily. Let your girl have a girl name.
Emerly-Looks made up. See Madalyn.
Zoe-Short yet zesty.
Juliette-Romantic
Veronica-Strong name
Gabriella-Angelic ballerina
Stella-A beautiful star
Victoria-Strong classic name
Rylie-You have so many pretty names, why is this here?
Kendall-It’s alright.

You wanted my honest opinion, and I’ll give it to you based on what I think you’re looking for. First impressions are important. So going off of that...

Ava - First impression: Pretty name, popular name, another Ava?
Olivia - Same as Ava.
Madalyn - Same as Olivia and Ava.
Chloe - Pretty and somewhat popular, but less explosively so. Fresh-sounding. Makes me think of flowers.
Emily - Classic. Will never be out of date. Feminine, beautiful, elegant.
Caroline - Same as Emily.
Adalyn - Trendy.
Addison - Trendy and not feminine.
Elizabeth - Same as Emily and Caroline.
Grace - Beautiful and sweet. Elegant.
Audry - Nice, that spelling looks a little off, though.
Hanna - Pretty, classy, feminine.
Caitlin - Beautiful, traditional.
Claire - Same as Caitlin.
Avery - A little more modern, but sophisticated.
Alexandra - So many of those.. such a harsh-sounding name.
Sophia - Another one?
Natalie - Adorable. Feminine, elegant, not overly common.
Savannah - Pretty name, sounds darling.
Anna - Classic. Nothing extraordinary but very traditional and sweet.
Paige - Common, not feminine, trendy, odd name. (A page was an assistant to a knight way back in the day... or a servant)
Evangaline - Why is it spelled wrong? (My spellcheck underlined it in red. I also simply like it better spelled Evangeline)
Emerson - Masculine, trendy, nickname-y.
Emerly - Sounds like and overly cute nickname for a girl named Emily.
Zoe - Spunky.
Juliette - Overly romantic.
Veronica - Harsh.
Gabriella - Pretty... so many of them...
Stella - Refreshingly old fashioned, and it means star, how cute. :)
Victoria - Always seemed a little ostentatious to me, like Anastasia.
Rylie - Cutesy. Not necessarily in a bad way.
Kendall - Hmm, and is this a boy or a girl...
Raygen - Odd spelling!

Those were the first impressions I had, and I can imagine others having to the names. Some of them are really pretty - some I don’t like. Hope this helps, and best wishes!
P.S. I love names that will never be dated - you know how some names sound dated now, like Barbara and Darlene? Trendy names will sound like that in fifty years!

Ava - WAY too common!
Olivia - It’s okay, but it’s getting really popular.
Madalyn - Cute, but yet again, so so SO popular.
Chloe - It’s a dog’s name to me, sorry.
Emily - Lost it’s appeal to me in the 90’s/
Caroline - Cute, but kinda old-fashioned.
Adalyn - I like this!
Addison - Oh, and are you going to call her Addie, too? Yeah, I think not.
Elizabeth - Depends on the nickname I think.
Grace - I don’t like it as a first name.
Audry - Spell it with an ’e’ AUDREY. Perfection.
Hanna - Spell it with an ’H’ biblical names are perfect the way they are, no changes needed. Plus, it looks like you were too drugged up on your epi to remember the ’H’ lol.
Caitlin - I like this, it deserves a comeback.
Claire - Hmm, it not so common. But maybe a little plain?
Avery - EW no. Do you want her to be know as ’Avery #15’ in school?
Alexandra - Love it and all it’s nickname opportunities.
Sophia - Oh, or you could always go with Sophie! Cause that’s, like, so , like, CUTE!! *insert sarcasm here*
Natalie - Love it, even though it’s really retro.
Savannah - It’s cute, but gaining in popularity. She’ll have at least 3 others in her class but she won’t be one of the 37 Avas so that’s a plus.
Anna - I like it. It’s a classic that will never get old.
Paige - It’s not a very good first name in my opinion.
Evangaline - Did you mean Evangeline? Cause I read that as ’E-Van-Guh-Leen’.
Emerson - Ick. This is a BOYS name, hence the word ’SON’ on the end of it.
Emerly - Not a real name. Just my honest opinion.
Zoe - If you must use it, spell it with a ’Y’. But I beg you not to use it.
Juliette - Now THIS is pretty!
Veronica - Ew. She’ll end up being called Ronnie or something horrible like that. NO.
Gabriella - I prefer Gabrielle to Gabriella. Gabriella is just to wordy for me.
Stella - This is really pretty, I like it. Estelle is also a good alternative for this.
Victoria - I like this. Tori is a good nickname, you don’t have to use Vicky as some people have suggested.
Rylie - I HATE alternate spellings like this. It just looks ugly. And makes it appear that you can’t spell.
Kendall - This is cute, but I don’t like the nickname ’Kenny’ on a girl and it always seems to happen.
Raygen - Yet again, ugly spelling. Reagan just looks much better. Besides, people will naturally spell it Reagen and she’ll have to spend her whole like explaining that you were trying to be ’unique’ and spelled it all wonky.
