Ella vs. too close to vs. Elle?

I really love the name Ella, but my cousin has a daughter named Elle, and in our family it is a BIG no-no to give children the same names as other family members because of belief system, etc... So if Ella too close to the name Elle (they call her Ellie or "L")

I think it’s pretty close... but it would be ok if you gave her a full name (like Eleanor or Gabriella) and called her Ella for short

Give her a full name like Gabriella, Ariella, Isabella, etc. and call her Ella

If what your family thinks about the name is really important to you, then I think Ella and Elle are too close. But with a name like Ella, you could chose something longer and use Ella as a nn.. that way your family probably won’t be mad and you (and everybody else) can call her Ella.

Gabriella
Daniella
Michaela
Elenore
Eloise
Eliza
Elizabeth
Michelle
Arielle
Noelle

I think Ella is fine. I don’t think it’s too close as long as you don’t call her "L" for short!
