Does Yvonne vs. Work On A Baby?

Hi everybody. I’m expecting a baby girl in May and I would really like to honor my older sister in her name, as she passed away a few months ago. Her name was Yvonne Lorelei. Lorelei is out of the question as it is already the name of one of my nieces, so my husband and I are considering Yvonne. Do you think it would be alright to name my daughter this? If it helps, her older brother is Frederick Booker nn Freddie (named after my father in law, middle name was my maiden name). Thank you- Cheryl, Nathan, Freddie and our baby girl.

One of the most lovely women I have ever known was Yvonne. It is a pretty and semi uncommon name, and I think it sounds sophisticated. Do whatever you want.

I don’t particularly like it. However, I did know someone with the name Erika Yvonne. She was only 18 (she passed away). It’s always nice to honor a family member. Erika’s middle name was after her grandmother. I would use it in the middle if you really want to use it.

It’s pretty and elegant. I like it. It’s much nicer than half the names you hear out there for kids nowadays. I also think it goes nice with Frederick. You could always call her Vonnie for short while she’s little.

My husband’s cousin is named Yvonne, they all call her Yvie (Ee-vee). Not my style personally, but its cute.

Go for it! Freddie is not a "trendy" name and neither is Yvonne. They are both unique (but not too unique) and not popular. I think your baby will always have a meaning to her name.

i think Yvonne will work fine on a baby, it’s a very pretty name and it honors your sister.
