The y makes it look like a girls name to me....Although I do know boys with this spelling. I’ve always found it girly.

I know a girl in her late 20’s named Ellyot and a friend of a friend has a 2 year old daughter named Ellyot London.

So to me girl....but that might be because I know girls with this name?

Looks like L-E-yacht to me. And I agree it is not a plesant spelling.
