A name vs. non A name

All my husband’s mom’s grandkids have names that start with an A (Andrew, Abbey, Austin, Amelia, and Ashlyn). Austin is my son. I am getting pressure from them to keep the A name tradition but I am having trouble thinking of A names. I like Ava, Allison, Ansley, and Addison. Do you like any of these or can you suggest any better ones or should I just be a rebel and pick a non A name? I have also hate when people purposely name all their kids by the same letter.

Tradition is important. Plus the baby would be different and he/she might get snubbed a little for it. I know it sounds petty, but it does happen. Ava is a beautiful name.

If your not totally against and A name I would use it. I would give her a middle name I absolutely loved though, so she can use it later in life if she chooses. Would your family be against giving her an A middle name and using it as her nickname, because that could be an option if you fall in love with a non a name. I really like Ava and Alyson from your list, I also like Audrey and Alexandria good luck!

Pick whatever you want and if it is an A name great. If not , they will just deal.

Tradition is fine and great--when they are your traditions. If you like A names, then go for it and keep up the tradition, as cheesy as it may be. But go with what you love. It’s a decision you and your child ultimately have to live with.

My mother did this except for her last child which she named after herself. My sister said she always felt different. Ava and Allison are pretty. Anna is a beautiful name also.

I think Ansley is beautiful! It can also be spelled Ainsley or Ansleigh. As far as the "a" tradition it is all how you feel I swore I would name all my kids with different first initials and just had my 2nd daughter and named her an A name like my first daughter although all my boys are different ...its just your preference ..hey it’s your kid!

Go with an A if you can find one. Suggestions: Ayla, Ashtyn (Ashton), Autumn, Alissa, Averie, Amber, Adrienne, Alexia (Alexa, Alexis), Annabelle, Adalay. Ansley and Ava are great too!
