I’ve known both boys and girls named Dawson, so I can’t really say. However, I think it takes a certain type of girl to pull off Dawson.

My husband and I were debating on if the baby was a boy or girl. We both want a unisex name because we have family members we want to name the baby after. Dawson was a name that came up because of his best friend’s last name and my Mom’s maiden name. We’re thinking it’s going to be more of a girl’s first now. Regardless if you all think it’s a boys name! Thanks for helping us!

Boy definitely comes to mind when I hear it, but I could definitely see it as a girls name. I’m a fan of "boyish" names for girls, and I think Dawson would be a cute original one!

Boy. It would never even have occurred to me to use it for a girl. It would make a fine middle name for a girl, in the context of being your mother’s maiden name. But I’m not loving it as a girl’s first name.
