It has been growing on me lately. Until recently, it was one of those names that had fallen out of usage and just sounded sort of dowdy. Years ago, there was a cartoon and TV character called Hazel. (You can still find re-runs of the TV show sometimes.) She was the middle aged maid for a wealthy family. That was pretty much my image of the name. But lately, I have been hearing the name more often and it’s growing on me. Now it conjures up more of a spunky, perky little girl in pigtails.
