Family vs. Name

We want to choose a name for our baby using family names. For girls - Julie, Carol, Joan, Hazel, Lorna and Helen. For boys - Paul, George, Ivan, Alwyn, William and Alec. These are our parents and Grandparents names. Are there any that would be good for first names or are they too outdated? What are some fn’s that would go well if we used them as mn’s? Thanks for your help ***

You could update these or keep them as they are. Ex. Caroline Julianna, Hazel Joanne. The boys names are classics and would work well as they are. William is quite popular with nn Will and Liam. I think Alec William is cute. Go with your heart. I think it is wonderful when people honor their loved ones by naming their child after them. My children are named after my sisters and my mother. Alot of parents are giving their children double mns. I think that is nice as long as the names flow nicely together. Good luck on finding the perfect name for your little one.

Boy -
William Alexander (Liam)
William Paul (Liam)
Alexander George (Alex)
George Alexander

Alexander represents Alec and Alwyn. You could consider giving the baby two middle names if it is a boy because it is hard to combine the names you want to use.

Girl -
Juliana Helen (Julia)
Caroline Juliana
Caroline Hazel
Juliana Hazel (Julia)

Caroline represents Carol and Lorna. Juliana represents Julie and Joan. Then either Hazel or Helen could represent both.

I like Lorna Hazel or Hazel Lorna for the girl’s name.

I think Julie, Hazel, Lorna, and Helen are all quite useable. In fact I think a little Helen or Hazel would be quite adorable because she would stand out amidst all the modern-day Madisons, Addisons, and Baileys.
For boys, your best bets are Paul, William, or Alec. Paul is rarely used nowadays but is a nice name meaning "God’s little gift". William is a timeless classic and Alec is cute but classy.
