Where to find vs. names??

Hi all, this is going to be a strange question. We are the proud new adoptive parents of an older boy who absolutely hates his name, Cormack. He says that he knows he’ll always be Cormack [his last name] because that’s who he was born as, but that he wants to leave that life behind him and start new and that includes changing his name and taking our last name. We have two daughters named Ljena and Milja and I guess it’d be nice if all their names went together, but he says he’s not Eastern European so he doesn’t want an Eastern European name. However, he doesn’t know what kind of name he wants. So I guess our question is, where should he/we look? Is there anywhere that gives styles of names? We’ve never named a baby, so we don’t really know anything about finding a name. Thanks!~Brina and Rain

Just have him look through a baby names book. How old is he anyway? Maybe his name could be Cory or Mackenzie or something, to keep part of his old name. Kids tend to change their minds quite often...

Yes, I agree, buy a baby name book from any good bookstore. Have a flick through it yourself first (some of them contain some more radical naming ideas than others; you don’t want to end up with a kid called Storm Ranger Superman III), then let Cormac have a look and see if anything takes his fancy. It all depends on how old he is anyway.

Well, what kind of names does he like? There are tons of different styles:
Classic: Matthew, Thomas, Alexander...
Royal: Albert, Charles, George...
Biblical: Elijah, Gabriel, Adam...
Trendy: Jaylen, Mason, Caden..
’Profession’ names: Hunter, Fisher, Porter...
Unisex: Jordan, Riley, Taylor...
Country: Lee, Dean, Beau...

And the list goes on

We’re calling him "Mack" right now, because it’s a part of Cormack and something that nobody ever called him before. He doesn’t want it to be a permanent name, though.

We have a baby names book but it just seems so...big. There are so many names to choose from! He did agree, though, that he didn’t want an "unusual" name like Cormack. So I guess more of the classic names styles...
