Peter vs. ??

My husband wants to name our son Peter. This is to name him after his older brother, who died two days after birth. Is it wrong for me to be so opposed to naming our child after his dead uncle...It just freaks me out. What should I do? Thanks, Kirsten

if it bothers you that much then explain it to him.. it isnt wrong not to want to name you baby after someone who passed away...

Maybe a name that is similiar or maybe if hubby is really insistant as a middle name?

also you might want to have him talk to his mother and see what she feels about that too.. you wouldnt want to do it then find out it upsets her to be reminded constantly.

I would use Peter as a middle name only to pay tribute, and give your child his own name/identity. (ex. Joshua Peter)

If you don’t want to use it, don’t. Or what about using Peter as a middle name? Go with your gut... otherwise, you might end up regretting it.

It really isn’t freaky to honor someone who has died by naming a child after them. It apparently is important to your husband. You need to talk to him and his mother. Maybe you’ll find an alternative. But even if you were feeling very positive about it, I’d use Peter as the middle name. It honors the person, but gives the child his own name.
