Advice vs. please

We love the name Lyra but are worried it will be immediately associated with the His Dark Materials trilogy of books. This is where I first heard the name quite a few years ago but we wouldn’t actually be naming her after the character. I’ve seen it on a quite a few polls on here which I’m surprised at because I’ve never actually heard of anyone with this name apart from the girl in the books which is why I’m worried she will always be associated with her. What do you think? Thanks a lot ~ Erin

I have read the books, and love the name. I dont think you need to worry too much, i dont think too many people have read the books. Id say go for it!

Lyra is a beautiful name!
Some people might know of the books but I really don’t think it sticks out and is immediately associated with that the way Hermione,Katniss or Renesmee would be for example.

I personally always associate it with the books, but I’ve seen it so often on these polls lately that I don’t think that will be a practical concern.

The books are very popular. They won a Carnegie Award and some others I think. There was also a film. Thanks everyone

I love the books! And seen the film, but it’s a pretty name I say go for it! I wouldn’t immediately think of them.
