what do vs. you think?

My husband and I are very excited to be welcoming our second daughter. We have several names that we like, but we’re having trouble with one name in particular. Ainsley is a very important name in my family, and I’ve always wanted to use it. However, it clashes horribly with our last name. What do you think? Should we use Ainsley anyway? Thank you! ~Jenny

No I don’t think you should use it... I think the flow of the first and last name is very important.

Maybe use it as a middle name? I’m not a big proponent of using names that clash, but when it comes to family names, I tend to be a bit more flexible in opinions.

What other names are you thinking of?

If you don’t mind me asking, what is your last name?

Our last name is Eisley. So, different first syllable sounds, but they are only one letter different in spelling. We have no problem with them both ending in -ley, it’s that the first syllables also sounds very similar.

We’re also considering:
Piper
Harper
Sailor
Rowan
Zoe
Elin
Hadley
Finley

Rowan Eisley would be cute!

Who knows? What is your last name? What is your other daughter’s name?

I don’t have a problem with it with your last name; but it would help to know your older daugther’s name.

What is your older daughter’s name? I really like your list.

Piper Zoe
Elin Harper
Elin Sailor
Rowan Harper
Harper Zoe

Or, if you decide to use Ainsley: Rowan Ainsley, Harper Ainsley, Piper Ainsley.

Our older daughter is Auden India. We’re considering adding Olivia and Chandler to our list. We had originally chosen Olivia as Auden’s middle name, but went with India instead. But we’re concerned because Olivia is so much more popular now. Chandler is another family name. We like it, but not as much as Ainsley.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We’ll be thinking them over.

I would not use Ainsley as a first name but I think it would be cute as a middle. Olivia Ainsley Eisley is cute.

I love the name Ainsley! You could spell it differenly I like the spelling Aynsleigh OR you could make it a 2 part name. For example Ainsley-sue mn Eisley. Just to break it up a little. Wdyt?
