First Names vs. For Lorraine
Hello! We’re expecting our first baby, and the gender is unknown. We have already decided on two boy names but can’t agree on girl names. We will be using the name Lorraine as a middle name, after my mother-in-law, do you have any suggestions of first names for Lorraine? We tend to lean towards really feminine type names, and popularity doesn’t matter too much to us. Thank you for your help! -Kamie Hauffman
The Top Baby Name is...
I like Isabella and Ava a lot, thanks!
Your Welcome :)
Kaydence Lorraine is my fiances nieces name :) very cute!
(BTW are you set on using Lorraine)
You can also spell it Cadence :)
I’m not a fan of Greta or Kaydence, thanks though!
I’m not huge on any of the suggestions, I’m sorry. Thank you though! And yes, we are set on using Lorraine, may I ask why?
Isabella is so common
It’s just very very dated
I’ve actually never met an Isabella before, so it must not be common where I live. Also, like I stated in the post, the popularity of a name isn’t all that important to us.
Sienna Lorraine, Rebecca Lorraine
Not a fan of Maci, Brittani, Lynzee, or Whitnie sorry! I guess I’m not really a fan of trendy or differently spelled names. I think names more along the lines of Isabella/Ava is what I’m looking for.
Rebecca is cute, thanks!
She will be one in a million in her class if you name her isabella
Rebecca Lorraine is cute :)
How do these sound?
I don’t believe I said that we are using Isabella for sure, but I did say that I liked it. I guess I’m not a fan of completely out there names or names that have been spelled differently. I’m sorry if you don’t like more common names but I do. I’m also not really sure why you are so stuck on the name, if you don’t like it, then why not give a few other suggestions that are similar in style to Isabella? That is, after all what I asked for and am looking for help on.
I really dislike names that have been misspelled, I’m sorry. I also don’t see the appeal in unisex names, I had also stated in the original post that we tend to lean towards very feminine names. Though I do like Natalie, but I’m not sure if I like the sound of Natalie Lorraine. Thanks!
Hannah Lorraine, Audrey Lorraine, Julia Lorraine , Katherine Lorraine
I like Hannah and Audrey! Though does the double H with Hannah Hauffman sound odd?
I’m sorry but it seems like everyone is trying to help you only to find that you are quite critical and unappreciative..why don’t you just go through a name book and find one that fits what you are looking for.
Gabriella is pretty, thanks!
Ainsley Lorraine is my BFF’s name :3 I think its a nice name :3 Good choice for her middle name :3 <3
And I am sorry if I have come off rude, but I had felt a little attacked and that I was in the wrong for liking a name that is more on the "common" side. But I don’t see what is wrong with me saying I don’t like names suggested, I don’t want to lie and say I like all these names when I don’t and can’t see myself using them for my child. I thought by me saying why I don’t like a certain type of name it would possibly help when giving suggestions. Though, if some people don’t like the type of names that I am looking for, then they don’t have to come to my poll. It’s not as though I am forcing anyone to.
Lorraine makes a beautiful middle name!
Personally, I don’t care for Isabella Lorraine because of the two "la" sounds together. Isabelle Lorraine would be a bit smoother.
Best wishes! :)
Hannah with your last name sounds fine :)
Not huge on the name Ainsley, thanks though!
(Other) Kami, I like Annabel, Hannah (though still unsure about Hannah Hauffman), and Vanessa! I also think Isobel (I prefer this spelling over Isabelle) is pretty, thanks!
There how are these?
Most of them still are unisex, which I’m really not a fan of. I do like Summer though, thanks!
I think I found the name for you:
Poster... you’re doing fine. I don’t know why some people insist on suggesting things that are clearly out of touch with what you are looking for. It’s senseless.
Critical and unappreciative? Seriously? Who in their right mind, after reading your paragraph, would think you would Sydni, Journi, Jori, or Bostyn attractive?
And whoever was asking if you were set on Lorraine, which is the name of the baby’s grandmother? Please. Not even worth your time to respond to.
Best wishes! :)
Not a fan of Kristin, thanks though!
Thank you Kami! I really didn’t mean to sound rude or harsh or anything. I was just a little frustrated is all, which could just be from hormones. But I am truly sorry if I have offended anyone!
Not a fan of Madyson, thanks though!
I sort of like Hazel, but again with Hannah, not sure of Hazel Hauffman. Thanks!
(you probably won’t like any but I tried)
What is wrong with Hazel with your ln they don’t even have the same sound!
I like Noelle, thanks! Camille is actually my name, only my name is spelled with a K
I’m unsure if I like how they both start with the H sound. I may just be strange in that manner, but I’ve always been very hesitant when it comes to first and last names starting with the same letter. I usually never like how they sound together.
I like Sophia, Olivia, Dahlia, Scarlett, and Hazel, thanks!
Old fashioned seems to be your thing right?
I like Anneliese and Anna, thanks! I also like Alexandra but we can’t use it unfortunately.
Poster Kamie, I agree with the similar sounding first and last initial. My last name starts with a J and i wouldn’t consider any name that started with a J or soft G sound. Could you start another poll with all that you like so far and maybe we could work from that? :)
I’m not sure if old fashioned would be the word for it, but I don’t like the overly unique names. To be honest, I’m not really sure what kind of style I like. I don’t like extremely old names but nothing too crazy.
You have no idea what a relief that is to me! I thought I was always alone on the similar sounds for first and last names! I plan on making another poll, most likely tomorrow. My husband is out of town, so I’d like to come up with a list of names to show him that I really like and see what he thinks!
I like Alina, Arabella, and Charlotte, thanks!
I’ve always though Laura was a pretty name but Laura Lorraine doesn’t sound very good to me at all. Thanks though!
I sort of like Lillian, but just like how I am with Hazel/Hannah with my last name, I’m not sure if I like Lillian Lorraine. Thanks for the suggestions!
I like Lydia, Ava, and Violet, thanks!
Not huge on Evalina, thanks though!
I like Georgia, Emma, and Emily, thanks!
which name is your favorite so far??
I have multiple favorites right now actually, I really like Ava, Sophia, Isobel, Annabel, Violet, Lydia, and Olivia!
I like Emily and Emme (though more as a nickname), thanks!
If I were you, Id pick the most unique name out of your favorites list. I know you don’t mind the really common names but your child will thank you for it!
Thanks! Since those are only the names that I like from what you have all suggested, I’d like for my husband to see the ideas I think we may like and see which his favorites are and go from there.
Out of the ones you said were your favorites, my favorites are Annabelle and Violet.
