Although I think there are nicer occupational names, Trapper is fine but I’m not a fan of Dakota or the sound of the name as a whole. Personally I associate Dakota with girls because the two I know are both female and it also makes me think of the actress Dakota Fanning. Are you both set on Dakota?

If you are then maybe
Dakota Carter
Dakota Alder (from the occupational title Alderman?)
Dakota Kiefer (barrel-maker)
Dakota Webster
Dakota Weaver
Dakota Miller/Milner
Dakota Cooper
Dakota Collier (Coal-seller)
Dakota Berger (shepherd)
Dakota Clark

If you’re not set on Dakota then maybe
Owen Trapper
Glynn Trapper
Rowan Trapper
Euan Trapper
Reilly Trapper
Connor Trapper
Julian Trapper

like any?

My husband and I love the name Dakota and I have since i was a little girl.I also like it better on a girl but if i have a boy i have decided to use it because its my favorite name and probably my last baby so boy or girl we’ll probably use dakota

In that case good luck with your baby Dakota :)

Did you like any of the middle name suggestions? I like Trapper but I’m not sure it flows well with Dakota because of the repeated T sound.

I think Dakota sounds WAY too feminine. Like Harper, it will soon be a girls name.

not a fan of Dakota.
What about Colton trapper or Clayton trapper or Gage trapper or Wesley trapper

It’s honestly just a bit goofy: kind of like a designation not a name; a trapper from dakota. There are lots better occupation names like Spencer, Taylor, Chandler, Cooper, Archer, Fletcher, Carter, Weaver, Booker. Not a fan of Dakota as a name either, not nearly as nice as Logan or Cole

What about Dakota Tanner? Dakota Fischer?
