Girl vs. Name vs. Suggestions Please?

Hey! My husband and I are expecting our first child and could use some help. We have a small list of boy names we like, but we’re having a hard time with girl names. The only one we can agree on is Savannah, and neither of us are positive that we absolutely love it. Do you have any suggestions? We’d really like a feminine name, nothing unisex please. First name suggestions only! We will be using Josephine or Adelaide as a middle name. Thank you! -Via and Beau

Savannah is cute, but I think it’s too popular and it’s not really my style. A similar name is Susannah, and I like that MUCH better. Either Susannah Adelaide or Susannah Josephine would be lovely.

We don’t like Susannah, sorry! Popularity of names doesn’t bother us really, as long as we both love it, that’s all that matters to us.

We like Elise, Charlotte, Lydia, Ava, Sophia, and Ella!

We like Natalie!

Popularity of the name may not matter to you but it will definitely matter to your daughter, who will hate sharing her name with so many people! When people overuse a name it makes it less pretty. Sadly, I could happily go my whole life without ever hearing the name Ava again.
posted by guest :: 2012-06-24 16:15:30 | report
Sorry if you don’t like either of the middle name choices, but Josephine is after my mother in law and Adelaide is after my mother so we will be using one of them. We are just looking for first name ideas.

I have to agree with the above, Lydia Josephine is an amazing name!
posted by guest :: 2012-06-24 16:17:35 | report
Yes, but you also have to take into account that some names may be popular in some areas but not others. Savannah and Ava take for example, both are popular on the charts, but I think I’ve only met 1 girl with each name where we live. I really don’t want to get into the popularity of names though, we may have different styles of names which is completely fine! I was simply stating that when it comes to finding a name for our child, we are going to pick a name based off of how much we love it, not it’s popularity ranking.

Savannah is the name my husband and I agree on but aren’t sure if we love it. We like Stella, Ella, and Isobel!

We don’t like any of the suggestions, sorry! (this is to the comment with Heather/Gentry/Oaklie/etc)

Josette Josephine sounds so pretty.
Avery Adelaide
posted by guest :: 2012-06-24 16:21:18 | report
We aren’t huge fans of alliteration and Josette Josephine has too much of the "jos" sound for us and Avery is too unisex for us as well, thank you though!

Savannah Josephine
Isobel Adelaide would be my top choices out of the names you like.
I also like Josette Josephine too its pretty and different nns can be JJ or JoJo.

They already said they didn’t like Josette and someone suggested it again, so of course they arn’t going to suddenly like it 5 minutes later. They have liked alot of names, but they gave a breif of the type of names they liked and if posters give names in a different style then it is unlikely they are going to like them.

The posters have been nothing but polite and thankful, I’m not sure why you are being so rude. I think vintage names are lovely, you don’t have to like the style, you don’t even have to comment, you just need to be polite.

Actually, if you’ve looked through my poll, I have liked many suggestions. I’m sorry that I had already stated that we didn’t like certain kinds of names and those were being suggested but we’re not going to like every suggestion!

We like Evelyn and Charlotte! We’d rather not use Adelaide Josephine because we feel that if you are going to use a name after a family member for a child, the middle name is the best place for it.

Isobel is maybe my favorite name in the entire universe! So I think you should pick that one;). You’re so lucky your mother and MIL have such great names! My mother is Barbara and his is Muriel:(. Adelaide and Josephine are beautiful!

I prefer Imogen Josephine (but then Josephine is another of my all time favourites). I think this is really pretty but it does depend a bit on how it sounds with your last name.
