Elena Leigh vs. Elaina Leigh
After much debate we are trying to settle on a name for our second daughter. I love the name Elena (pronounced eh-lay-na) but don’t want my daughter to have to correct people all of her life who pronounce it "ellen-ah." We’d also like to use the nn "laney." If you are going to pronounce it eh-lay-nuh then I would go with the spelling Elaina or Alaina. Elena will never be pronounced that way. and I have never pronounced Elena as Ellen-ah. I say EH-lynn-uh. with 3 syllables, not 2 and emphasis on the EH. I think that EH-lynn-uh Leigh sounds beautiful and like it much better. Though Elaina Leigh is beautiful as well. GL

Thank you. To the best of my knowledge, the italian pronunciation of Elena is eh-lay-na... I have never heard the eh-lynn-uh pronunciation. But that is nice too. My concern is with people pronouncing it with 3 syllables as El-en-ah, like the name Ellen with an "a" at the end.
