Mackinley vs. Boy vs. Girl

Would you use Mackinley for a boy? I have loved it for years and had always thought it a strong masculine name but yesterday met a little girl named Mackinley so it got me thinking....do you think its masculine and more a boys name than a girls? Thanks.

I definitely prefer it on a boy to a girl. And to the previous poster - there are plenty of names out there that are tradiationally last names - eg: Riley, Logan, Quinn, Wade just to name a few, or places ie: Indianna, Savannah, Maddison. Its just how it is.

I like Mackinley. I too though have only ever heard of it on a girl, but I like it on a boy too. There are lots of names that work for both girl and boy.

Seeing it I would automatically think girl if the person were young and probably male if the person was 40 or older.

I love it on a boy since it is a boys name. However, Madison and Mackenzie are also boy names and you can see how they ended up.

I would NEVER use it for a boy but I think it would be adorable for a little girl! I think it’s less-trendy spelled McKinley!

I like it. MacKinley or Mackinley gives it that surname feel and it also gives him a nice nn: Mac.
