Juliet vs. Juliette

Hi, we have decided on a name for our baby girl but we can’t decide on the spelling. Our families tell us to go with Juliette because it goes better with our oldest daughter’s name, Charlotte. My husband and I are more worried about her having to spell it out or having to correct people all the time if we use the -ette spelling. Which should we pick? Thanks.

I would consider how it goes with your surname, too.

It starts with a W, is two-syllable and ends in -on.

I think most people have to spell out their names for people these days. I know I have to, but it doesn’t bother me. At least people will be able to pronounce it by looking at it. To me the Juliette spelling is prettier. There is a doctor who works in my building with this same name and spelling, Juliette.

If you are going to use the pronunciation JOOL-yet I would go with the spelling Juliet.
But if you prefer joo-lee-ET, then spell it Juliette.

I like Juliette more feminine

I think Juliet is perfectly fine if you don’t want to have to be correctly people. People will assume you spell it Juliet anyway.

Also, you don’t have to have matched names for your daughters. Charlotte and Juliet go great together.

Have you considered any middle names?

For middle names we’re considering Louisa, Catherine, Bethany, Sarah and Sophia. Unfortunately we can’t go with a middle name starting in A or E because her initials would lead to a lot of teasing.

I def. like Juliet a lot better! Juliet is so much more simple and less confusing to spell. Juliette is really trendy IMO and just looks tacky and most likely she’d get her name misspelled a lot. Juliet is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!

I love Juliet but I hate Juliette! I think with Juliette she might have her name misspelled a lot and it doesn’t even look like the same name as Juliet! Juliet is the classic and most elegant way. Its very pretty this way.
