Kyle vs. With 2 syllables vs. Kyell/Khyell
Need help! My husband and I both want to name our first son Kyle but we want it to be pronounced with 2 syllables instead of one so like Ky-ell. My husband wants to spell it Kyell or Khyell and I think it’s okay but I thought people may think it’s spelt too oddly? What do you think?

Just think of how often he’ll have to pronounce and spell his name to people throughout his life. I think Kyle (traditional, one syllable) is a nice enough name!

I agree with the first post. My wife has a name that she has to explain to everyone she meets or just gives up and goes with the mis pronunciation. Kai is also another way of accomplishing the Ky sound. Good luck

Kyle is a wonderful name! I speak from experience- a lifetime of correcting each person you meet every single day- it is not worth it. If you must vary a name hat sounds like Kyle, try out Kalil.

I think Kyle could be prn with 2 syllables spelt like that... I have a friend called Kyle and when I say his name it’s more like ’Ky-yul’.
I think spelling it differently will just cause problems.

Don’t do it! That would be a bit mean!

I’ve kind of always pronounced Kyle as 2 syllables, but I’ve also seen the spelling Kyall before if you would really prefer an alternate spelling.

I am not fond of the way you want to pronounce it, but think that Kai’El will get you the correct pronunciation. Kyle (kil) is a nice name though.

Kai Elliot would be nice. You could call him Kai-El as a nickname and he would have a first name others wouldn’t constantly mispronounce. Good luck.
