Personally I think it’s better as a nickname for James or Jamieson, but it is becoming really popular so you could use it as a first name! but really it is up to you :)

I absolutely adore Jamie on a boy. However, I have a hard time seeing it on a grown man. So I would personally use it as a nickname for James or Jameson, but it’s up to you.

Ditto to the above poster. It’s great for a little boy, but Jamie isn’t a man’s name. James with the nickname Jamie for when he’s young would be great!

Jamie definitely works on its own. It’s quite popular in the UK. I’ve met Jamie’s, males, of all ages, and I can asure you it ages very nicely!
If it makes any difference, try looking up Jamie Pugh, he was a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent.
