Should I really vs. wait to name vs. my baby girl?
We have a little problem.I’m due on the 19th. I love traditional names. My husband doesn’t want to name our child a name that may be the Royal Baby’s name. He’s no fan of the family. He is from Britain and moved to Canada. He had enough of their "celeb status" as he puts it.

You can go with a list of maybe you top 3-10 names, and then when she/he is born you can see what name you love the most and what you think the perfect name is. The royal might be born August 1 and your baby could be born tomorrow, and your still going to need a name.

My mum had the same problem, I was born in 1990 the same year as Princess Eugenie. My mum chose Charlotte years before she fell pregnant. In the end she went with it and was lucky. What’s on your shortlist? Maybe choose something you can shorten? But honestly ’royal’ type baby names have been around a long time and are steadfast. It may well turn out you have a different gender to will and kate :)

I have a friend who waited 9 days before giving her baby a name. I know it’s not typical, but it does happen. If you really don’t want to do that, then just pick a name you love, and if it happens to be the same name, use a nickname or the middle name.

I can see the point your husband is making, and I think its a good one. Whatever names the royals choose are guaranteed to increase in popularity.
However, just something to think about: its not uncommon for royals to wait around two weeks, or sometimes as much as a month to announce the name of their child. Couple that with the fact that she could go overdue by a week or two, and the possibility that you might go into labour any time, that’s a LONG time to wait to name your baby!

Seriously? Have your baby and name him/her first. No big deal. Have a back up just in case if he cares that much.
