May vs. Mae
We can’t decide on a spelling. Mae is his grandma’s middle name. May was a nickname for my grandma Mary when she was young. Which do you like better?

If its middle name then either are ok, although I do prefer the spelling Mae.
May looks more pleasing to my eye.
Mae is newer and I like this spelling a lot more! If it will be a first I know a girl who’s name is Maelyn and goes by Mae. She is the cutest thing!
Actually both spellings are equally old. I have people several generations back in my family tree named Mae. I once read a biography about a wealthy 19th century family (can’t recall which family) whose son married a woman name Mae. The family convinced her to change the spelling to May because Mae was considered more lower class. I must admit, May looks more refined to me, even though do have several Maes among my ancestors.
I think Mae looks prettier. May just automatically makes me think of may the month in a calender.
