Different spelling vs. for Meta

My grandmas name is Meta, pronounced May-duh. I think its a very pretty name but I would like to come up with a different spelling since it doesnt look the way its pronounced. The only thing I can come up with is Maeda. Is that okay? Are there any other suggestions?
