Mackenzie (boy) vs. Mackenzie (girl)

To you does Mackenzie (nn Mack) sound like a boy or a girls name? I’m due to have a boy in about a month and my husband suggested it and I’m in love with it now. Majority of our family thinks it’s a girl name though. I think it sounds masculine but I need to have an outside opinion on it. We have two other children, Maya and Macy who are 4 & 3 respectively. Thanks -The Fields.

Sorry but I would never consider using it for a boy. Way too many girls with that name.

Too feminine for a boy.

I don’t think the name Mackenzie is feminine at all, the prefix Mac actually means son but considering how many Madisons/Addisons/Emersons/etc their our running around it doesn’t surprise me most find this feminine. Another name we have considered is Macklen we like it but I fear most find it unusual.
