Can’t vs. Choose
My wife and I have very different name tastes. I like traditional feminine names. She loves trendy more modern names. We’d like some feedback on the names we have each selected as possiblities for our daughter. Thanks Confused Couple

Felicity has a bit of something for both of you. don’t you think?
What about Evelyn?
I like Bianca & Fiona the best the rest are ok
What about Amelia nn Mia? That way she has a more traditional name and a trendier nn! What do you think?
Leah is a good one that would also have something for both of you.
I love Kate, Eden, and Everly. LEah and Amelia nn Mia are good ones too. MAybe Aria? and Lillian nn Lillie, classic name with a nn with a trendy spelling? You could always do that. That way she can be called both. LIke Danielle nn Dani
Talia, prn Tuhleah. What do you all think about that?
what about Lacey? Girly, beautiful, has the more trendy, modern quality she likes.
Eliza as a full first name, so you have part of a first name that you want, then for middle, go with Mackenzie. That is kind of cute!
Eliza Mackenzie, what do you think?
I could get behind Penelope... its obviously very traditional... though I like a lot of mine better but clearly she doesnt. Wonder if she would go for Penelope and call her Penny. She likes The Big Bang Theory...
Oh, I love that show. LOL.
Personally, I think that you should just keep looking until you find "the one"
I disagree with previous poster. You both need to LOVE the name. By looking at your lists, I don’t think your styles are too different. For ex. on her list there is Eden and Fiona- which are not trendy and easily could be on your list. I truly like all the names on your list minus Beth.
good luck. I’m sure you’ll agree on one!
Well, my hubby and I have only ever truly AGREED on one of our kids names. We have three kids. We went round and round with arguments for months on the other two children’s names. The kid, at the end of the day just has to have a name. Period, even if you both do settle. A name is a must have, no matter what.
How about Hannah? It’s very traditional but it also has some spunk to it!
Victoria (nn Tori)
Anything appeal to you?
I’m sure you can find a name you both love! Suggestions:
The best answer is compromise, which is a challenge right now because at least on of you is seeing this as a competition and who is going to "win". Instead, you need to both look at the other’s list and write down which of the names you could live with. Then look at the two lists together. Can any of the names be paired together? Is there a way to combine two of the names into one entirely different name?
I really like most of your names and a few of hers. Here are the ones that seem like nice choices to me:
Renae (please spell it Renee so it maintains its meaning of ’reborn’.)
OK, let’s take Shay & Charlotte. They begin with similar sounds. Perhaps a new name: Shayla, Sharla?
Now, in style, Fiona and Alexis seem similar to me. Neither is a "new" name, but both have a recent (sort of) new found fame. They could pair together quite nicely as Fiona Alexis.
I personally think Eden is quite beautiful. If you get into meanings, you can find a new appreciation for a name that you wouldn’t have considered before. Eden = Paradise. What would you think of Eden Renee, which means "Paradise reborn"?
Elisabeth (or Elizabeth) is a time-tested classic. Madison is a trendy, more modern name. And yet, they can pair nicely for Elisabeth Madison. I kind of like that one, since my mother-in-law was Elizabeth and she lived in Madison, New Jersey. Also, both Madison and Elizabeth are northern New Jersey cities, so you could justify pairing them.
But of course, any of what I suggested needs that magical word: compromise. If that’s not possible, you need a new list. May I suggest:
Mackenzie because my name is Mackenzie and it seems like no one is named Mackenzie
