Duffy vs. More Formal vs. Name
I want to call my daughter Duffy, and my husband thinks it is cute, but my mother and my mother-in-law both hate it, so my husband and I were thinking we could give her a more formal name that they can call her. Can you think of any formal names that you can get Duffy from?

Duffy reminds me of the silly word for someone’s behind. Sitting on your "duff." I don’t like it. Buffy is much more feminine sounding.

You don’t even need a name that Duffy could come from. Just call her whatever you want.
Buffy reminds me of the Vampire Slayer. I much prefer Duffy, but thank you for the suggestion. I really like Dianna and Demetria. Thanks.

I agree with Alyssa. I’ve known a Duffy and a Buffy and both of them had names that had nothing to do with those sounds.

I agree, just do Duffy as a nn if you must use it, but don’t curse her with a crappy name.
