I’m from England...and it is pronounced like Maiv here. I’m assuming it’s the correct way because we are so close to Ireland, where it is used the most.

The girl’s name Maeve \ma(e)-ve\ is pronounced MAY-v, MAY-vee. It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "intoxicating". The original form is Meadhbh, name of the powerful and legendary warrior queen of pre-Christian Ireland (first century). She is described in the "Tain", the Celtic equivalent of the "Iliad", as "tall, fair...carrying an iron sword". Author Maeve Binchy. --taken from thinkbabynames.com.

so there you go. you can say it both ways.
I like May-vee the best tough.
