Should I vs. Name Him vs. William?

My father’s side of the family has a tradition naming boys William (My Dad-William Donald, Grandad-William Ronnie, Uncle- William Todd, Cousin- William Nolan). My question is should I name my son William? my father didn’t have a son-two daughters, so I want to continue the tradition, but I’m not sure if a daughter should continue it since it is a guy thing. If I do my favorites are- William Connor, William Fisher, William Cooper, William Carter, and William Gage. He will be our 3rd child- older brother is Benjamin Michael (Michael after his dad) and sister is Makenna Jolene (Jolene after me). Sorry it’s so long!

Oh, please put which combo you like best if you think we should use William.
And he will be called by his middle name.

As I said-it’s a family tradition to use William as a first name.

I like William Connor

Of the options I like William Connor best. I think if you have any doubts about following this tradition, then don’t do it. I have one question though: Why did you name your first son William? Just curious. Good luck!

You could always name him Liam if you’re unsure about William.

I say go ahead with it! I like William Carter and William Cooper the best. I think it’s great your family has this tradtion.

Maybe go with Liam instead? It puts a little twist on the tradition while still keeping it. My family has a tradition too. First it was the full name Hiram Porter (there are at least 3. I don’t know about further down the line) and now it has branched to just making Porter or Hiram a middle name. I mean, having a cousin named William is a little odd for me, if they’re close in age or the family is close. Since you’re the daughter, I think it would still be honoring the name and the people as a middle name.

If you LOVE the name William, go for it. It’s still following tradition if you make it a middle name.

Or these variants:
Wilson
Wiley
Wilkes
Willis

Or a name like William:
Eliam
Eilam

William Carter is the best out of your combos, I think.
