Evangeline vs. ???

Thoughts and opinions needed on the name Evangeline for our little girl. Is it too old-fashioned to be used on a little girl? It’s nice for a woman- we think it’s beautiful- but on a baby/little girl? What do you all think? The only other one we have thought about is Penelope but we decided we preferred Evangeline. She could be called Evie, Eva, Angie, Angel, Vangie (though there could be connotations here), Linnie... there are so many possible nicknames. Middle names we have thought of are Evangeline Claire, Evangeline May, Evangeline Olivia, Evangeline Rose, Evangeline Iris, Evangeline Hannah, Evangeline Amy, Evangeline Elise. Please suggest more. Other children are Victoria Grace and Rupert Alisdair. Thanks, Moira and Trent.

Evangeline is a lovely name that fits in great with Victoria and Rupert. Out of your choices I like Evangeline Claire, Evangeline Rose and Evangeline May.

But I ADORE it.

I think it’s horrid because it is the name of a hospital around my area and the nn are even more horrid. Have you ever thought of the name Angelina?
