Updated vs. Version of vs. Ellen

Ellen is my moms name and we want to use it as or in my daughters name but I want a more updated version. Should I change the spelling Ellyn or Elynn or should I use it as part of a longer name. Any suggestions?

You shouldn’t change the spelling. How about a name with Ellen in it in some way?

If you go with Ellen then I’d suggest you keep the original spelling. What do you think of Elenya (elle-en-yah) as an alternative?
