80’s names! vs. which ones vs. should be revived?
Just wondering which girls names that were really popular in the 80’s that you think were really nice and that should be revived?
The Top Baby Name is...
I think it’s a little soon to revive most 80’s names as it’s those women that are currently having babies for the most part. It’s tough to name my child Jessica when I have known probably dozens of Jessicas in my life and wouldn’t want to name my daughter after any of those people. That’s the reason why names that were hugely popular tend to decrease steadily after those women reach the age of having babies. Someday Jessica and Brittany will be associated with old ladies the way we think of Barbara or Mildred now.
Anyway... Christina is one of my favorite highly popular 80’s name. I like Crystal also - although I do know more than one woman with both of those names.
Well I always remember when I was around 9 and the local teens used to talk to me as they passed my front garden on their way out. They were really glamorous girls and had names like Tiffany, Nicole, Alison and Tina! I loved Tiffany and Nicole actually. Alison is an ok name and really like Christina!
JESSICA!!!!!!!!!!!! Best girl name Ever. I love love love love love love Jessica!!!!!!!
Heather. It’s a beautiful flower name like Holly, Rose, Lily, etc. but it got categorized as an 80s name that a lot of people avoid. I hope it gets revived someday!
I like Jessica too!
I love the name Heather much more than Lilly, Daisy ect and I would use it regardless of the categorization!
Some names that were popular in my area for 80s babys were Katherine (Katie), Megan, Lauren, Jessica and Melissa
I also love the name Heather!
I have to second Tiffany and Allison-love those!
Danielle and Amy are quite pretty.
Also-Vanessa-I always thought that was beautiful.
I remember lots of Michelle’s, Samantha’s, Stefanie’s, Karen’s and Kelly’s, and a whole bunch of Stacey’s and Lynsey’s! Not to mention the Mandy’s, Tracey’s and little Charlene’s! I come from U.K...Can’t say I much like most of them, but I do love Heather and Jessica which in my area wern’t so popular!
I have to agree with previous poster who mentioned Amy! What a gem of a name, love it.
Hi, I am from uk also and in my school it was all Nicola’s and Shelly’s. I knew one girl called Suzanne and another called Annette and I loved their names! I really hated Kerry though!
Tania, Lauren, Amanda, Heather, Jessica
Justin was a really 80’s boys name and I’m surprised it’s still so popular! Justina would be an 80’s girl version.
Allison has always been one of my favorites!
Jessica, Allison, Sarah, Michelle, Kelly, Katie
To be honest I don’t feel as though Jessica has really gone out of style as the name is still ocassionally used. Personally I like Heather and I have a hunch this name is making a revival as we speak, because aside from all the mentions it’s had on this poll, I’ve heard loads of people mention how nice it is over the past year and have seen a couple of polls on that name too. I also really like the name Michelle and hope more people star to use it!
Melissa is gorgeous and was hugely popular back then!
Nicole needs reviving!
Were all hugely popular
Can’t beleive nobody’s mentioned Lisa! I knew more Lisa’s than any other name, but it was Candice that I really liked and that was pretty popular too. When I was a little girl I used to say to my mum "Why couldn’t you have called me Candice or Tiffany!" I still love both of those names and Candy for short is adorable, if perhaps a tad tacky!
