I like the look of the name Aline but I’m wondering if there will be issues with pronouncing it. How would you say it?

ah-LEEN. Or at least, that’s how it’s pronounced here. Most people here speak French, though. I think in Germany it’s ah-LEEN-eh.

My husband’s grandmother was named Aline. Some say Ay-leen and some say the A as in apple - A-leen. I once asked her son, my husband’s uncle, which was correct. He laughed and said he wasn’t sure she even knew. It’s a lovely name either way, I think. But I’d guess you’ll get it pronounced both ways about 50-50.

Thanks poster 3... that is a great story and you’re probably right. I personally thought it was ah-leen but I can see how maybe it should be ay-leen. I don’t even know which I like better!

I think the name ay-leen is an Irish name, but I’m not sure how it’s spelt (you never know with Irish names...). Aline is a very common name in Quebec and is said ah-LEEN, almost ah-LIN. It’s really quite pretty!

Ah-leen is how I would pronounce it. I would think it is pronounced like the name Alina but without the a at the end. I love the name Alina, btw.
