I’ve had students named Chardonnay and Tequila, so Whisper doesn’t seem too bad, but people will be reacting to it oddly her whole life.

Have you considered Willow or Willa as an alternative?

I like the name whisper, I really do. But for your child’s sake, go with whisper for a middle name, or come up with a cute nickname. What if she’s really loud? Congrats, by the way

How about Whitney or Whitley?

Whisper is one of my favorite words, along with ’gossamer’, ’pillow’, and ’tarmac’. As a name for a person, it leaves that realm of mystique and becomes sort of silly. I was going to name my last kitten Whisper if it was a girl, but it was a boy. I would not suggest using this.

sounds more like a name for a quiet, mysterious girl in a book or a movie

Its horrible don’t do that to her, those positive people were likely being sarcastic or where trolls. No sane person would recommend such a name.

Better name for a pet really.

Try something with a similarly soft sound:
Willa/Willow
Vesper
Aster
Saffron

Maybe you could name her Whitney or Wendy and just call her Whisper as a pet name? I think it might embarrass her a bit if it’s her only choice. If you do go with Whisper, I’d suggest calling her Winnie or some other common W name when she enters school. I also like previous posters suggestion of keeping this as a mn if you must keep it.
