Names vs. Like vs. Emme/Emmie

Hey everyone! We are (finally) expecting a little girl and love the name Emme/Emmie. However the "ee" sound in it doesn’t flow with our last name. Do you have any suggestions that we may like based on Emme/Emmie that don’t end in the "ee" sound? Names do not have to start with E! Thank you!

Amelia, Imogen, and Rose are all really nice; thank you! We don’t like boy or unisex names so please do not suggest those

Emma and Amelia are really nice; thank you! Please take a look at my last comment; we do not like boy or unisex names so Ellis and Rowen/Rowan would never be considered for us

Are there any other names besides Emme that you like but can’t use for some reason? That will give us a little more to work with.

We also liked Penelope, Francesca, Eleanor, Hattie, and Estelle but cannot use them for a number of reasons

Aria is nice; thank you! Emmeline is really nice as well but I’m a little concerned it would be shortened to Emme/Emmie; which I know sounds weird to be worried about it but we cannot stand how it sounds with our last name. Ella is really cute too but it’s too close to Eleanor which we can’t use

Charlotte is nice though I’m concerned about it being shortened to a nickname; I despise Charlie for a girl and Lottie runs into the same problem as Emme/Emmie

Violet and Genevieve are really nice; thank you! Lillian is also beautiful but the nickname Lily runs into the same problem as Emme/Emmie

A nickname is unlikely to be said with a surname so does it matter if a nickname ends in "ee"?
posted by guest :: 10 years ago | report
If someone goes by a nickname where we live, the will go by it all the time rather than their given/full name so the nickname and last name are used together so yes, it does matter if the nickname ends in "ee"
